Freedom Belarus

This mix is a joint international musical project of funk, soul and breakbeats in support of Belarusian people, struggling for freedom.

Lavr Berzhanin a.k.a. DJ Laurel started this project in 2006. The main objective is to draw international attention of musicians and DJs to the brutal crackdown of post-election demonstrations in Minsk.  A series of events under the name «Solid Party» were held during a worldwide tour of “Free Belarus Theatre.” Musical project of «World Musicians for Solidarity with Belarus» has been supported by Mick Jagger, who was playing tracks from the DJ Laurel’s  album  before his appearing on the stage.

"Looking at what is happening  in Belarus these days after December 19th, I’ve decided to continue the project with the participation of my friends-musicians. I asked them to create their exclusive 20 minute sets in support of our country. The second part is coming soon. It will consist of works by American musicians. I do not expect that this will be a bomb, but at list they will be aware of what's going on in Minsk and think how they can help."
